Gümüşhane Üniversitesi 31 Mayıs 2008 tarih ve 26892 sayılı Resmi Gazetede yayımlanarak yürürlüğe giren 5765 sayılı kanunla kurulmuştur.
Gümüşhane'de Gümüşhane Üniversitesi adıyla kurulan bu Üniversite Rektörlüğe bağlı olarak yeni kurulan İletşim Fakültesi, daha önce KTÜ'ne bağlı iken adı ve bağlantısı değiştirilerek Rektörlüğe bağlanan Gümüşhane Mühendislik Fakültesi, İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi, Gümüşhane Sağlık Yüksekokulu (Aşağıda belirtildiği üzere daha sonra fakülteye dönüştürüldü), Gümüşhane Meslek Yüksek Okulu, Şiran Meslek Yüksekokulu, Gümüşhane Sağlık Hizmetleri Meslek Yükseokulu ile Erzincan Üniversitesi Rektörlüğüne bağlı iken adı...

Our Rector Prof. Halil İbrahim ZEYBEK was appointed to Gümüşhane University in January 21 2016. From the moment appointed to rectorship, our rector has provided a peaceful environment in our university. Unfortunately, smear campaigns have been carried out to discredit our rector Prof. Halil İbrahim ZEYBEK who has made a great effort to develop our university. Our Rector has found it necessary to give an answer to all smear campaigns so far. However, the news titled “Rektör’ün Kralığı: Oğlunu da Yanına Aldı” was the final straw. First, it is crucial to state that mentioned news is prejudiced one. Appointment process of our academician mentioned in news is totally in accordance with regulations.
Consequently, it is respectfully announced to the public that we will take firm steps forward to our aims regardless of the baseless news.
